We have been having practices culminating in PrizegivingPrize-giving on Thursday night. We are looking forwardCongratulations to Riley and Samantha for being our Workers of the Year.
We held our RICH on Wednesday with lots of chippies, biscuits and breaksweet treats followed by a swim and games outdoors.
We broke up on Friday. ItFriday with a short assembly where 2016 house leaders and Dux and Sportsperson of the year were introduced to the whole school.
It has been relaxing holiday. I have enjoyed my wonderful students this year and look forward to hearing more of their successes in the future. Thank you for the many lovely gifts and cards.

This is where I shall share with parents and students of Room 3 students, Waiau Pa School and the wider world what is happening in Room 3, and what is coming up.

Week 9
This week we have been enjoying some Christmasy activities including a webquest whereby the class researched Christmas traditions and origins- very interesting. We did a Christmas quiz, won by Samantha and also used thinkers keys to create and design variations of Christmas things. We have also been making some tree decorations using a variety of materials resulting in paper, glue and glitter everywhere. We will be having practices for prize-giving culminating in Prizegiving on Thursday night. We are looking forward to our RICH reward celebration on Wednesday and break up on Friday. It has been a frantic term and we are all in need of a relaxing holiday.

Week 8
We enjoyed our first swim of the season - a bit chilly but refreshing.
This week we have been extra busy focusing on completing our performance task for our topic, Harnessing the Sun. The students had to use all the know;ledge they had learned from our investigation and experiments and apply it to their design of a solar oven made from a pizza box and available materials. A piece of bread with cheese on top was placed in the ovens and then they were placed in the sun to capture the suns's energy and hopefully melt the cheese. It has been fun and a challenge with many metres of cling film, aluminium foil and sellotape being used.
Using the solar ovens was very weather -dependent and we could have done with longer exposure and hotter sunshine to produce significant results. The students did a great job of writing up their reports and also instructions for making their ovens then evaluating their performance. I'm so glad we managed to complete this while the weather was conducive to harnessing its energy.
Congratulations to James and Abi , our Workers of the Term. and to James and Riley for earning special Mathletics medals for having huge scores in Mathletics.
Reports went home on Friday- I hope parents found these informative and held no big surprises. Please remember that the learning folders are not portfolios as we used previously; instead they are a collection of test results and samples of work. The report is designed to show what the students have achieved, where they are at in relation to National Standards and what their next steps are in their learning.

Week 7

Friday 4th of DECEMBER
I achieved working with my team and getting along with Samantha and Freddie.
This week with my team for making our solar oven we LEARNT the green house affect which we were aiming to to.
Tuesday 24th November
This week I enjoyed doing fun experiments one that we did today was with mirrors we used the reflection and the first team to melt there biscuit were the winners.

This week I have been doing swimming, It was very fun. I have enjoyed PE over the past couple of weeks I have enjoyed T=ball, gnarly and monster ball.
